Our Philosophy of Ministry

Ministry at FAITH TEMPLE CHURCH is earmarked by a threefold philosophy of Excellence, Generosity, and Compassion.

EXCELLENCE

Ecclesiastes 9:10 – Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Excellence is not to be confused with perfection. Perfection puts a person under the tedious scrutiny. However, excellence dispels mediocrity. FAITH TEMPLE CHURCH seeks to empower each individual to achieve personals goals and fulfillment, and to serve in the house of God, using their realized and perfected gifts and talents. Excellence is instilled and expected for successful living and thriving ministry.

GENEROSITY

2 Corinthians 8:7 –But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us- see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

The quickest and most effective antidote to greed is giving. Each person has a right to receive payment for services and to own property, but when it comes to giving, all rights are forfeited. We give up personal rights to serve the greater need. The livelihood of FAITH TEMPLE CHURCH comes from generous giving of a person’s time and talent, and especially their treasure. Tithing, giving 10% of your income, and giving in additional free will offerings is the financial means of survival for FAITH TEMPLE CHURCH . Volunteering, working in areas of need within the church and community, is the means of relevance among our neighbors and friends.

COMPASSION

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 – 1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Agape, the unrestricted love the Lord requires of all believers, is a self-sacrificing love that is not fulfilled apart from action. Ministry at FAITH TEMPLE CHURCH cannot exist without love and compassion. Jesus demonstrated His genuine compassion on many occasions. Consequently, as God’s love is perfected in us, we will be “moved with compassion” by the various difficulties we see our neighbors experiencing.
